GPSTS Poker Strategy Seminar: Basic Poker Math with Mike Stein

Exams are over — time to study up on poker skills!

Join Mike Stein in a discussion of all things poker, consisting of a short lecture on basic strategy followed by an open Q&A session and strategy discussion over a play-money poker game where you can work on your skills and get your play critiqued.

The lecture will focus on the raw mathematical foundations of basic poker strategy, such as preflop play, pot odds, implied odds, bluffing, and position. This portion will be geared towards novice players who know the rules of the game but haven’t studied much formal strategy.

Afterwards, the speaker will take questions on any aspect of any level of game strategy or on any aspect of the competitive poker world, so more experienced players are encouraged to join us for the open discussion and free play session following the lecture (which should begin at about 7:45).

Monday, January 30, 2012
